Case Study of Jinhuicheng Molybdenum Company’s Application of Cast Stone Composite Pipes
At the Wangjiaping tailings pond of Jinduicheng Molybdenum Co., Ltd., two cast‑stone composite pipes are employed as the tailings conveyance pipeline, with a total length of 14,000 meters. The ore type is molybdenum, and the daily throughput of raw ore is 60,000 tons. Since commissioning in March 2018, the pipeline has operated without any anomalies; its overall performance remains excellent, with no malfunctions or deviations. The tailings slurry has a density of 2.80 t/m³, a grindability fineness of 64% passing −0.074 mm, a median particle size (D50) of 0.023 mm, and a design weight concentration of 30.5%. The slurry specific gravity is 1.25, with a slightly acidic pH of 6.4, a yield stress of 5.0 Pa, and a plastic viscosity of 0.152 Pa·s. The critical flow velocity for the pipeline is set at 1.50 m/s.
